Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Practice Test

The identification of suicide as the second leading cause of death among youth in Canada underscores the significant mental health challenges faced by this population. Mental health issues can often lead to feelings of hopelessness and despair that may result in suicidal behaviors.

Youth in Canada, like those elsewhere, experience a multitude of stressors such as academic pressure, social dynamics, and family responsibilities, which can contribute to mental health crises. The statistics indicating suicide as a leading cause of death highlight the urgent need for awareness, prevention strategies, and resources dedicated to supporting mental health in young people.

Understanding the other possible causes, such as drug overdose and accidents, is important, but the prominence of suicide points to a critical area in need of intervention and support. Information aimed at promoting mental health awareness, accessible counseling services, and open dialogues about mental health can be instrumental in reducing the incidence of suicide among youth.
